Our group the ThreadHeads exchanged ornaments at our Christmas get together. Some were handmade, but all were wonderful and can't wait to be put on our trees. I collect Angels, Snowmen, Wooden bobbins, Pinchusions and alot of other neat sewing items. We had one of our members daughter hand out the ornaments that were in bags or wrapped in Christmas paper. So we did not know what we were getting until we opened them, I got an handmade felted Angel by Gabriela. I love it! It will hang in my sewing room once the season is over. We have one member, Ann, who lives in Angier, North Carolina, who could not be with us, but was there in spirit. Hope everyone has a Wonderful Christmas. RoseMary
I finished my ornaments for the Honeypot Christmas Swap, I hope my ornaments will be enjoyed, but you will have to wait to see them. I didn't what the other person to see them before they got to her tree. I am mailing them today. It is cold here in Ohio today, but warmer then yesterday, it was coooooooooold. The snow is melting, but I hope it snows a lot on Christmas day. Like I have said before, I love living in Ohio. Not bad for a country girl from California. I would still love a small place where I could have chickens and a garden to grow vegetables. So till next time, hope all of you have a MERRY CHRISTMAS! Blessings, RoseMary and family
So here is my journal, I took a Sketch Book and added a cover and back, I will do in the inside and back inside later.
This is the first time I will be doing an Art Journal, I have kept written journals before but don't ever keep up with them.
The theme this week is Seasons of Change, so my cover has a two fold meaning, a journal to me is a Journey, and a journey has many twists and turns, like the seasons. We never end up where we think we will.
So, I will keep you up to date each week with the new theme and page in my Journal, so check back often and see what's new.
Here is the piece I have done for "With One Voice", Exhibit. It is for the Butterfly 208 website. Please go to www.Ask.com and type in "Butterfly 208. Hope you like it. And thanks for looking. RoseMary
Please go to the link and check this out. www.ucc.org/justice/coffee-project/holy-joes-cafe.html One of the groups I belong to the "ThreadHeads" are doing crosses to be sent to men and women who go to Holy Joe's Cafe and to the wounded. If you would like to help just email me and I will send you the information. This is a wonderful and easy way of showing our men and women who serve us how we believe in them and care.
This is a very simple way of helping support artists in your local area or in the U.S.A., and there are artists in other countries.
Very thing on these sites is handmade, take a few moments with your coffee or favorite drink in hand, just don't spill on your computer, and take a look at the wonderful crafts and other items you can find here. What a great way to do Christmas shopping this year. http://www.buyhandmade.org/ and on the right hand side a little ways down is a list of sites where you can go and find handmade items.
I took the pledge to buy handmade and make things myself to give as gifts.
You may say that some of the items are more money then you would like to spend, well, think of this. They are handmade not mass produced, most will be one of a kind. Why wouldn't anyone love to receive a gift like that.
The weather here in Northeast Ohio has been cooler and rainy the past few days, I think Fall maybe here sooner then we would like, which means snow is around the corner.
At least the cooler weather has put the Japanese Beetles at bay for a while, they have been so bad this year, it is the first year that I have had to use something called "Bag-a-Bug", I've never seen so many Japanese Beetles in my life, use to collect them in jars when I was little, that was just a few years ago, LOL.
Off to work on my Journal for the Fair and my piece for the "One Voice" exhibit, will post them when I am done working on them.
The weather here in Ohio today is just wonderful, breezy and cool, with sunshine. Could not ask for a prettier day. I have posted the picture of me with my fiber piece the "Holy Trinity" at the fiber show. And one of Gabriela with one of her pieces.
Have posted new a picture of our youngest son, Chris, still waiting on a picture from our fourth child Ryan. As soon as I get one I will post it.
Now off to new adventures in fiber, I am working on a Journal, I have a piece to finish before August 30 for the "One Voice" exhibit coming up, I will post that when done.
So many fibers and so little time, Till next time, RoseMary
It is finished!!!!!!! The fiber piece is now done, folks. And could not be happier, that stress is now gone.
The fiber show is this Sat, and I will take pictures at the show and also post those for you. This is the Art co-op in Peninsula, Ohio http://www.peninsulaartacademy.com/ check it out. Please let me know what you think, I love to hear from other artists.
I'm trying to figure out how to do the pictures in a different layout of my kids, so bear with me.
I am working on my fiber piece almost everyday in hopes of getting it done for the fiber show. The one thing I don't like about due dates for projects is that they seem to get in the way of getting the piece done right. You worry about that date instead of thinking about the piece or at least I do. I will be working on the piece and will get ready to put something on it and it will tell me to put something different on it. I will have to stop and add or take away a piece of it and change it for something else. I hope to take a new picture this afternoon and post it later. RoseMary
One of the hardest things that I am trying to teach myself is to spin yarn. It is not as easy as it looks, my hands don't want to do what I tell them, they have a mind of their own. I took the time to make a spinners hook, which pulls the started thread through the orifice of the spinning wheel. Something new to think about making now. I friend gave me bags of Alpaca fibers of all different colors and I am learning to wash, clean, and comb the fibers, it is fun! But spinning is a different story, will keep you up to date on things.
I am still working on my fiber piece for the show coming up July - August. Keep stitching, RoseMary
Here is the new picture of the piece I am working on. You may see a larger picture at the bottom of the page. Get a piece of paper and start keeping track of the symbols. Don't forget to email me with each symbol you see, where they are, how many. Then email me Your name with a list of the symbols. Hope you have fun with this.
Good Morning from Ohio where it is a little humid and overcast.
Triquetra - Holy Trinity This piece will have symbols within symbols. Some will be Celtic, but it is hard to find symbols for certain words, some words do not have symbol linked to them.
I think I will host a game with this fiber piece! How many symbols can you find? You will need to send me and email with your name, and what symbols you are guessing. Please send to firstname.lastname@example.org I will print out email and save to keep track. I will put together a gift basket for the winner. So please link this blog to your emails or your blog. I will post a picture when a new step is done, I will keep a list of symbols as I go that way I won't forget what they are. They will be reveled at the end when the piece is done. There is a clue in this blog.
Sorry everyone! I have not bloged in so long, Life has gotten in the way. I have even started new projects without finishing this one first. I do that alot, but that is how my brain works, it jumps to, too many things and can't seem to finish the thing I start. But I am not the only one that does this, other artist totally understand what I mean. I hope to finish this one day. Take Care and stay dry and warm. RoseMary
