Grow My Blog

Hi, ya'll and Welcome from Northeast Ohio, I'm RoseMary.  Come in, sit down and make yourself at home. Join in Grow My Blog, and visit blogs all over the world, just click the Grow My Blog on the left.
I started this blog to meet new friends from other places and for my love of Quilting, started off strong and then, my husband brought a consignment shop in June 2011, and have not been keeping up with my first love-QUILTING.  I wear way too many hats, but am the happiest when I am quilting or sewing.

I am working on a t-shirt for my niece Becca, as you can see in the past blog.  I am posting the steps, the hard part for me is finding the time to blog.  I hope you will join my blog family and friends.  I have a give away, I'm not done sewing it together.  I have the top done and here it is.  It will be a Ladybug Pincushion, when done. This post won't let me put the picture where I want it to be

Please leave me a post on your favorite thing you like to collect.  I collect buttons and all types of old sewing items.  Please leave your email so I can contact you, when my husband draws the winning name.  Which will be Feb 1st.
It is cold here tonight, no snow, we had about 22 inches right after Christmas, that has all melted and waiting for the next storm to come and blanket us with some more snow.
I am blessed with a great husband, Rich.  7 Children, 9 Grandchildren, #10 is due the end of July, and 1 great grandson.
Glad you stopped by and hope you will come back. And check out my and hubby's other blog at www.secondtimearoundconsignment@blogspot.com

Happiest when needle meets fabric,

T-Shirt Quilt for Niece "Becca"

One of my niece's "Becca" called and ask if I would make a T-shirt quilt for her boyfriend, like the one I made for her dad.  I said yes, just send me the shirts, not due till April for his birthday, thank the good Lord, LOL.  So, this is what I have been doing today, so I am going to show you the steps I take in making a T-Shirt Quilt.  This first part I forgot to take pictures, so I will just type it out.
I take the t-shirts and cut up the sides to under the sleeves and then lay flat and then cut the top of the sleeves to the neck and will have two parts, front and back.  Then, I add interfacing to the back so it won't stretch, when working with it and looks better when done quilting it.

You can use white or black, which ever is cheaper at the store.  Apply this to the back of all the parts you want to use, fronts and or backs of the t-shirts.  Count how many you have and then draw up your plans for the layout.

I only had 18 pieces, so I have to figure out how to make two more, I have two extra pieces of solid black t-shirt backs that had no pictures or words on them.  So those two pieces, I will add a picture of my niece and Gavin and her boyfriend and on the other one with be their names.  Here, is the next step, I start hanging them and take pictures to see if it looks good and move pieces as I go.

I hate it when the publish button gets hit and your not done with the page your working on.  Will finish up tomorrow.

I am the happiest when I put needle and thread to fabric,
RoseMary
