Blog Hop

Blog Hop Party with Give-Aways
Starting on Dec 10th, you will be able to visit quilt blogs by clicking the Blog Hop
Party link.  For my give away, I have three handmade Tussie Mussie holders, perfect for Christmas.

Please check out my blog and answer one question for me, leave a comment and please be kind.  I have had this blog for awhile, all I want to do is quilt, in one way or another.  I just don't have alot of time to do so, if you had one thing to add or say, what should I focus on.
I want to improve my site so quilters will enjoy coming here and spending time.  Hope you will follow my blog.  Thank You and look forward to reading all your comments.  Hope you will follow me.
I will draw three names on Dec 17th.  My grandson (Briston) use to draw names for me, but they no longer live here, they moved to NC. :(  So, I'm going to let my husband draw for me, I'm sure he will be happy about that. :)  Check back to see if your name has been drawn and if so, please email me at grandmawillcox@zoominternet.net with your snail mail address.

Happy quilting,
RoseMary

First thing I would advise to run a great blog is to turn off the comment moderation. Those letters and numbers are so difficult to figure out and for the seeing impaired, it is impossible to leave comments so they usually stop coming to your blog.

Yes, you may get a few spam comments but Blogger catches them and puts them in your spam folder so they never make it out on your blog anyway... an occassional one might but so far I have not had that happen.

Sometimes you have to keep refreshing the letters to get some you can actually read and this is such a big turnoff that a lot of bloggers will leave without commenting altogether.

Just food for thought...

And another thing about comment moderation... Some bloggers have it that they approve comments so you cannot see the comment you left. This is a turn off for a lot of bloggers too. I for one, like a lot of other bloggers, like to see my comments before I leave the blog I am visiting. This one isn't as much a big deal as typing in the letters but it is still one that may keep bloggers from visiting.

All in all.. Make it as easy as possible for your audience to communicate with you. Blogger will take care of the spam.

Now, lets see how many times I have to refresh those letters in order to leave this comment. :)

Focus on what you want to do, which is quilting. Show us your quilts, you can do tutorials or share quilt patterns. Just share your passion of quilting. You wil be fine and your blog will be enjoyed by all us. Thank for sharing and giving all of your followers a chance to win those treasured handmade holders. This is a gift of love. Hope your holidays are the best.

I hope I fixed the comment moderation and hope there is no letters to read. Thank You Thearica.

If I were you, I would definitely widen my center column. It is far too narrow for the content. You can adjust this in your blog settings. How blogs look determine whether or not I'll visit. Just a suggestion.

Adding pictures of your work and your interests is a great draw for viewers. Definitely go back and widen your center column.
Entering blog hops will also bring traffic to your blog, there are so many different hops to join like this one, keep an eye out on other blogs for upcoming events and sign up!
Hope this helps a little :)
Thank you for the chance.

I would say the best blogs, show their work, they show what they are working on, share the sites where they get great deals of patterns, host giveaways. Post tutorials if you feel comfortable... I love looking at other blogs quilts as I get so many great ideas..

The one big thing I noticed is the center bar, with the posts and comments, is really tiny. It makes it hard to read/focus on what you posted. Maybe widen this a bit. Other than that, just show off your work and love of quilting. Thanks for the giveaway!

I agree with others that the center column with the main page is too small. Lots of pictures that people can put on Pinterest always help too!

I do not have a Blog, but agree with those who do to make it a more friendly place to visit. Love your giveaway. jbechosend at sbcglobal dot net

Most definitely a wider center column is needed. Also, share tutorials! Quilters and crafters love tutorials with pictures.

I love eye candy! Lots of pictures and projects in all phases - not just fabrics and finished projects but the in between too. I learn so much through reading blogs and love it. Thanks for your giveaway!

I redid the format and hope this is more pleasing to the eyes and easier to read. Still working on the format to see what works the best. Thanks to all who are leaving comments.

Find your voice - tell about your art and quilting and make it sound like you're talking to us. A touch of humor is always good.

Good pictures are appreciated!

Look at other blog and see what you like them and try to be emulate those good qualities.

Join link parties - you can join mine - grin - Off the Wall Friday - for Art quilters - come any week!

I have just a few followers and they are the best. I love to quilt too but I don't post very often. They will come. Post what you can and have fun!

Pictures of what you are passionate about. If it is quilts, then let's see them. They don't have to be finished, we like to see things in stages. We like to hear about your mistakes or bad color choices. Blogging is a learning experience.

I became a follower. Thank you for the opportunity. Add color, lovely pictures from your projects, tutorials if you like. Good luck

Thank you for your give away and I know what you mean about passion for fabrics etc. I too want a more Christ centered life and wonder if I am too obsessed with quilty-ness..then I rationalize, "but Lord, look at all the good things I do with my projects..." haha. As for the blog, I like pics, personal stories, triumphs and tragedy's and definitely TUTORIALS..

I am now following you via GFC
It's nice to find a blogger that admits she doesn't have the time to do a lot of quilting.
I took a look around your blog. I love that you do posts about all kinds of different things.

I love the pictures that bloggers post, makes a huge difference

Thanks for doing a giveaway! I like the letters you were doing last Christmas- especially edging with pinking shears. I always forget to get mine out.

My advice is just to post when you have something to share and not get stressed about it!

Merry Christmas!

I maybe would go to 3 columns instead of two. Through in a pic of the family or pets here and there. It helps us (your readers) to get to know you.

Link up to other blogs with useful information, whether or not they are more active then yours. Personally I follow blogs that interest me and then come visit when you post, cuse i follow with the blogger.

It is interesting to read the comments you received about your blog. I do not follow many blogs but the people I chose have little to do with the look of their posts or their comment form. Sometimes I go back a few times before deciding to follow but often it is something they have said or maybe the way they said it that catches me...makes a connection.
I find the friends I have made through blogging are people I would love to know in real life ... and a few of those I have met in the last few years and was not in the least dissappointed.

Keep it interesting to your audience. If quilting is what you like, make your blog all about it = your creations and others', too.

I agree with a lot of the other comments -- lots of pictures!

I was going to suggest what Therica said and she explained it amazingingly well. Just focus on what you love, why, how and where and you will be successful.

I LOVE tutorials and pictures of things the author has made! Thanks for the great giveaway! Merry Christmas :)

I like you site -- and I can comment today! Pictures are always a biggie, I think. More pictures and less words is what the blogger experts say. I love to write, so I rarely follow that advice!! LOL! Your tussie mussies are lovely! Also, are you responding to individual comments? I think that's a big thing (and a piece of my own advice I do follow)! Look forward to hanging out with you at your blog (or mine)! :)

Hey RoseMary, I was a Florist in one of my other incarnations so I really love the tussie Mussie's! They are really to pretty to use but I suppose I could line them with plastic so's not to get them wet! Thenks for the novel give away idea. I haven't seen a Tussie in a long time! Happy Holidays! This is awesome! I'm glad you are gifted to do quilts.
Wish I could do it too.
Feel free to visit my blog too, and leave a message or join my blog!

Great that you started a blog, it takes awhile to get it like you want it. I like the 3 column layout and you may too. Thank you.

I do not have a blog. I know it's alot of work and I'm sure there is a learning curve as well. I love seeing pictures of the different projects the blogger is working on, tutorials, product and book reviews and alittle about your life.

Thank you for a great giveaway and a chance to win.
Love that your giveaway is open alittle longer.
